Friedman finds profit in LA real estate market.

London– The World Container Index tracking indicator from shipping analytics firm Drewry fell a modest 0.1% this week to $7,648.18 per 40-foot container. That index has been steadily dropping since August, but is still 24.7% higher than the corresponding week last year.

The index’s average for year-to-date is $8,712 per 40-foot container, which is $5,360 higher than the five-year average of $3,352.

Freight rates from Shanghai to Los Angeles, Shanghai to New York are around $8,700 and $10,926, respectively, both the same amount as previous weeks. Los Angeles to Shanghai dropped 1% to $1,278.

Drewry says it once again expects spot rates to remain stable in the coming weeks.
