A Florida couple has been arrested after their 3-year-old daughter overdosed on fentanyl and had to be resuscitated when her heart stopped, according to reports.

Jaelynn Carter was discovered unconscious and unresponsive at about 7 p.m. Saturday when first responders arrived at the family’s home on Northeast 33rd Street in Oakland Park, NBC Miami reported.

Medics intubated the child and administered Narcan, a treatment for opioid overdoses, to revive her on the way to Broward Health Medical Center, where toxicology tests revealed she had ingested fentanyl.

Her parents, Janett Carter, 38, and Walter Carter, 40, claimed they had been folding laundry in their bedroom when Jaelynn collapsed, the news outlet reported.

The couple both tested positive for fentanyl, officials said. The father also tested positive for cocaine and marijuana, according to authorities.

Jannett told investigators she believed her daughter had swallowed half a pill of the opioid after she bought two of them from a drug dealer, thinking they were oxycodone, the news outlet reported.

The woman told police she kept a baggie containing the pills in her purse and left it unattended on the toilet, despite knowing Jaelynn liked to rummage through it, WPLG said.

Jannett flushed the baggie down the toilet at the hospital, police said.

When the parents were arrested Monday, authorities found pills and coke in her wallet, and a baggie of weed in Walter’s pocket, according to NBC Miami.

They each face a charge of child neglect with great bodily harm.

Walter also was hit with a charge of cannabis possession and Janet faces a charge of cocaine possession, as well as a probation violation related to an unrelated grand theft charge.
