Here are the top five stories in Orlando today:

1. Orange County voters will be asked during the August 23 primary election if they want to extend a special property tax that for 12 years has helped pay for teachers' salaries and for arts, sports, and extracurricular activities for students. If the vote fails, the school district's 2023 budget would need to be cut by about $177 million. (Subscription: Orlando Sentinel)

2. Four people, including a 3-year-old child, were injured Sunday afternoon when a car drove through a toll booth and onto Daytona Beach before going into the ocean, according to Volusia County Beach Patrol. The driver reportedly had a medical episode before the incident. (Click Orlando)

3. A runaway emu was spotted stopping traffic in Orlando. Trooper Sgt. Durrance worked with a nearby homeowner to move the emu into a safe, fenced-in area. Emu's cannot not fly, but do run. (WFTV)

4. Edoboy, an 8-person standing sushi bar, opening at 728 N. Thornton Avenue, is soft opening this week. It is the latest project from Sean "Sonny" Nguyen, owner of Domu and Tori Tori, and Chef Tyler. (Bungalower)

5. Central Florida leaders gathered at the Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts for the inaugural Boujee Ball. The ball raised money for MAN UP Mentoring, Inc. which works to "continually improve the quality of life for at-risk youth by providing educational, mentoring and social services to help them to lead inspiring lives."
